At AMO, we are family.

Nearly 30 years ago, I remember sitting beside my mother as she sewed. Today, she continues to sew and I, metaphorically speaking, continue to be by her side.

In the early 90’s sewing factories still abounded throughout NYC’s garment district. My mother was part of the workforce. Every morning, after dropping me off at school, she would go in search of a factory that would give her work for the day. On weekends or no-school days, she would take me with her, and together we would go factory-hopping. Once a factory took her in and assigned her a sewing machine, I would sit quietly next to her as she stitched our day away.

Over the years mother has become a master at the craft. Her hands have tailored the most beautiful and delicate gowns imagined. She has worked alongside well-known fashion designers, among them, Vera Wang, Gustavo Cadile, Paula Carcalona, Randi Rahm, Rafael Cennamo, and John Kistiensen.

As a child, I knew sewing was my mother’s job. Now as an adult, I see sewing as much more than that, it is her passion.

Together, side by side, we have created AMO Gowns.

AMO Gowns is the continuation of our mother-daughter journey.
